The Outreach House for Girls is a therapeutic, children’s residential facility, for at-risk teens between the ages of 13-17. The primary goal of the Outreach House program is to provide holistic care, family structure, interactive guidance and adult supervision in a nurturing home-like environment.

By stimulating our residents’ personal growth through on-going, consistent counseling, positive mentoring, job skills training, good-decision-making techniques and life-skills instruction, we equip and prepare them for independence in adulthood without continued dependence upon public resources. Our program also emphasizes and encourages academic proficiency and we continually seek to personally enhance each resident’s educational experiences.

Our home is located in suburban Henrico County, Richmond, VA. The Sedgewood sub-division is a quiet neighborhood comprised of solid, hardworking, middle-class families. Its demographic is a mixture of young and old, professional and blue collar residents. Realizing that the majority of our residents, prior to coming to us, may have experienced combinations of abuse, neglect, poor and/or inappropriate home environments and the absence of positive role-models, we feel that the setting that the neighborhood provides further supports our regimented attempt to show, through example, that there are alternative, more socially acceptable, standards of living to aspire too.
